What Safari Activities Are Available in Nyerere National Park?

One of the most frequently asked questions for travelers planning southern Tanzania Safaris is, what safari activities are available in Nyerere National Park? The answer is that Nyerere National Park offers one of the most diverse safari experiences in Africa, combining classic game drives, world-class boat safaris, walking safaris, birding, and even fishing experiences.

Located along the vast Rufiji River system in southern Tanzania, Nyerere is Africa’s largest national park and a UNESCO-recognized wilderness ecosystem. Unlike many parks in East Africa that focus only on game drives, Nyerere stands out because it allows visitors to experience wildlife from land, water, and on foot, making it one of the most immersive safari destinations in the region.

At Terenga Safaris Ltd, we consider Nyerere National Park a “three-in-one safari destination” because it combines river safaris, traditional wildlife viewing, and intimate bush experiences in a single location.
