Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, a representative from Terenga Safaris will be there to greet you just outside the customs and immigration area with a warm welcome. From there, you’ll head to the Serena Hotel in Kigali, where you can check in and relax for the night. Enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation at the hotel, with the option of Bed & Breakfast. Kigali, a vibrant African city, is well-known for its cleanliness, orderliness, and exceptional hospitality. Nestled peacefully among picturesque hilltops, it offers a serene and scenic atmosphere.
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, our Golden Rwanda Safaris representative will be there to warmly greet you outside the immigration and customs area. From there, you’ll be transferred to the Serena Hotel in Kigali for check-in. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel, with your package including breakfast, dinner, and overnight accommodation.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour and Musanze
After breakfast, you will receive assistance with check-out and a tour briefing. Following that, enjoy a morning tour of Kigali, visiting attractions such as Inzuki Designs, the Inema Arts Centre, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. Lunch will be served at either the Khana Kazana Restaurant or Heaven Restaurant.
Highlight: After the unimaginable horror of the 1994 genocide, several cemeteries across the country were transformed into memorial sites. One such site is the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which houses the graves of 250,000 genocide victims. Learn about Rwanda’s history, from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide, and explore the global context of previous genocides and how Rwanda has responded. After lunch, we’ll enjoy a scenic drive to Musanze, staying at either the Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel or Mountain Gorillas View Lodge. Arriving in the evening, you’ll check in, enjoy dinner, and spend the night at the lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After a relaxing breakfast at the hotel, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the Gorilla Trek. Following the briefing, we will take you to the starting point of your guided trek, which begins at 08:00. This marks the beginning of your unforgettable adventure. A visit to Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas, will be the highlight of your day. As you explore the park, you’ll observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat, as they feed, play, rest, and care for their young, all set against the backdrop of serene landscapes featuring open grasslands, wetlands, and heathlands.
After this incredible adventure, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch and some well-deserved relaxation. You can choose to hike to the Dian Fossey Tomb or take a boat trip on Lake Ruhondo as optional activities. In the evening, enjoy dinner and spend the night at the lodge.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on your guided Golden Monkey Trek. Another highlight of Volcanoes National Park is the opportunity to track the golden monkeys, a local subspecies of the common Sykes monkey. In the afternoon, you’ll visit Ibyiwacu Village for an authentic Rwandan cultural experience. Ibyiwacu is redefining the concept of tourism by turning rural culture and traditions into attractions that generate revenue for local communities. This initiative supports rural residents who have transitioned away from practices like bushmeat hunting and poaching, helping them build sustainable livelihoods.
