En route to Kibale National Park—nestled near the majestic Ruwenzori Mountains, also known as the ‘Mountains of the Moon’—we’ll pause for lunch. In the late afternoon, enjoy a guided walk through the park, exploring the scenic crater lake region and getting a glimpse into the local way of life.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
We begin our day bright and early with breakfast before setting off on an exciting chimpanzee tracking adventure. Kibale National Park is home to around 500 chimpanzees, and before entering the forest, you’ll receive a briefing on trekking guidelines. As you venture through the dense jungle, your guide will share fascinating insights about the chimpanzees, other primates, and the rich diversity of plant and animal life, making the experience both educational and thrilling.
Regarded as the best place in Africa to see chimpanzees, Kibale’s forests are especially known for fig trees, a favorite food source for these habituated primates—accustomed to human presence since 1992. Spanning 795 square kilometers, the park is a lush expanse of equatorial rainforest and holds one of the highest concentrations of primates in the world.
In the afternoon, we’ll head south toward Queen Elizabeth National Park, soaking in the scenic views and spotting wildlife along the way. We’ll end the day with a relaxing evening and dinner near Bwindi.

Accompanied by a guide from the Uganda Wildlife Authority and expert trackers, you’ll hike through lush rainforest and bamboo covered slopes in search of a mountain gorilla family. The terrain can be challenging at times, but the moment you lock eyes with a majestic silverback, every effort will feel worthwhile.
Given the nature of the experience, a packed lunch will be provided. After your trek, you’ll drive through scenic terraced hills to the tranquil shores of Lake Bunyonyi.
